Toddler Birthday Pool Party

My baby girl turned 3! I can’t believe it, well, sometimes I can. I mean, lets be real. The days are long and the years are short. Right? It seems like just yesterday I cuddled her in my arms at the hospital, but there are days that I look up and see the clock read 4:45p.m. and think, “OH MY GOD four more hours in the day!” Literally, how is that possible? We had breakfast, made the beds, ran 115 different errands, went to swim school, did laundry, made lunch, cleaned the house, stopped at the park (“slide slide slide” she yells every time we drive past a park), washed the car, put gas, stopped at the bank, stopped at Walgreens (cause we always need something from Walgreens), took boys to hockey, picked up from hockey, took another to soccer, picked up from soccer, stopped at their tutoring center, made dinner, played with the neighbors, cleaned up the house, AGAIN, and the day is still not over at 4:45. Oh yeah and I work almost daily now. But, it was time to celebrate with a Toddler Birthday Pool Party.

Ten months ago we started swim lessons at Gold Fish Swim School in Evanston. She was so terrified I had to get in the water too. She held onto me the entire time and I wondered if she would be ready for Summer 2016. I have two older boys that want to live at the pool all summer, so I needed her to start getting ready and enjoy being in the water. With the patience of her amazing teacher Elizabeth, Lucy flourished. As the weeks passed by she became more and more independent. Then she began going in the pool without mommy. This past summer her swim instructors got her to swim sola! Like literally swim with no floats  before her third birthday! I was so proud I might have even bragged that I possibly have a future olympic swimmer in the family.

Well, what better way to celebrate her great success of being a swimmer than where she was taught to swim, at Goldfish. Being our first pool party I wasn’t sure what to expect and let me just say it was such a success that my 10 and 8 year old boys want to have their birthday parties there. The staff couldn’t have been kinder and more patient. Having the entire facility closed for us was perfection. No need to wait in lines to change, shower, or play with the equipment. Everything was kept immaculately clean and ready for our use. Oh, and the football game on the big screen was an added bonus for those dads. They kept everyone happy from kids to parents.

Now you can’t have a birthday party without Pinterest worthy desserts and my beastie and mom topped it off. How adorable are those Madeleine cookies by my beastie Cheryl Leahymy mom always tries to bake something special for birthday and her Peppa Pig cupcakes are pretty darn cute, right?

    It was the perfect place for kids to splash and play, and they all sleep soundly that night too 😉 We love Goldfish, Charlotte was so excited to show mom & dad her skills!
