Organizing Jewelry In The Bedroom Closet
I thought I always wanted a walk-in closet, but then, that means it would be filled with stuff instead of experiences. When we opted to NOT move into a bigger home it was because we wanted to travel more and give the kids experiences to last a lifetime. That meant mommy didn’t get her walk-in closet and I was 100% happy with that!
But, I knew I needed to make my current closet space work for me. If you have been here for a while you know that I like things organized to help simplify my life. I think an overabundance of “stuff” makes me anxious so a could years ago I created a Wardrobe Capsule. The Before and After photos were deleted when I transferred my blog so ignore that. BUT it was mountains of clothing and shoes in my room and it took me an entire weekend to sort through it all. It felt so good to purge. Since then, I have had the rule, if I bring something new into my closet I have to get rid of something.
However, one thing I didn’t purge much of was my jewelry. Almost every piece I have, I love and brings me joy, as Marie Kondo has taught us. But, back when I did the wardrobe capsule I didn’t place my jewelry in the closet but on my dresser because I thought I just didn’t have space.
I am able to step in, shut the door, and get ready in private. However, I had all my accessories in 4-5 vintage jewelry boxes on top of my dresser. I always wanted to have it all inside my closet but I thought it just wasn’t possible. Until I decided to move a shelf higher and create a nook for organizing my jewelry in the bedroom closet.
Using a bunch of smaller vintage jewelry boxes was not working. Nothing was organized and it simply was not functioning for me. Little Lucy was of course so happy to acquire the vintage jewelry boxes and took them to her room.
After a little closet organizing and purging of clothes, I rearranged my closet to work better for me and create a space that I could get ready in from clothing to accessories. With a new open nook at my eye-level, I grabbed from The Containers Store their White Glass Stackers Jewelry Box.
I love that they come in five different stackable sections so you can personalize which stacks work for your own needs. If you have more earings, rings, you can purchase more of the 6 or 13 section stackers. I am an earring, bracelet gal, so I knew I wanted compartments with larger sections for my bracelets.
