How To Organize The Refrigerator
When the kitchen project was completed, well, I think any room project, you have this urge to make each and every corner of the space perfect. Right? And when it comes to the most used room in the house, the kitchen, I wanted each cabinet, including the refrigerator, to be well organized and purposely thought out. I have been extremely happy switching from a side-by-side refrigerator to a french door refrigerator. The amount of upper space has been perfect for our family of 5. But, I needed to Organize The Refrigerator so it would cater to all of our needs
Produce and Snack Bins
First and foremost, I needed bins. Bins for our fresh produce and those afterschool snacks. My husband always comments at the end of the week how impressed he is that our refrigerator is empty. In other words, we truly buy a lot of fresh foods that we must eat within 7-10 days. With that being said, my kids won’t eat fruit that looks 5 days old. So I was so happy to discover the Greensaver Produce Keeper.
Besides the fact that they are adorable and look like old school fruit bins, they are, what I like to call, Fruit Bins 2.0! I wash all of our fresh fruit the day I purchase, then I place them in their bins. The bins work in 3 ways. First, it has an all-natural, non-toxic activated carbon filters trap, absorbing ethylene gas to slow down spoilage. “Inside, an elevated removable basket promotes proper airflow and helps prevent moisture buildup. And finally, the vent on the top helps maintain optimum humidity levels. The removable basket can even be used as a colander.” YUP, I use the removable basket to wash the produce.
Now those refrigerator bins for those fruit cup snacks to jello in my case. But, you can use them to keep your produce together or even your condiments. I use the larger one for my daily lemons and the narrow ones for kid snacks.
Liquids and Dairy
The amount of liquids we have with a family of 5. Yes, we do drink a lot of water and almost no juice in the house, but hey, momma needs her La Croix. The soda can organizer with a top-shelf is perfect for a little extra storage. I can keep all of my cans in one spot and I actually use the top shelf for butter sticks.
Who knew how I how much I was going to love Carafes. Two 51oz Carafes can hold our quarts of organic milk and then I use one for water, I have one kid who loves his water ice cold but with no ice. I use the other for our ice tea. If anything, investing in carafes is my biggest tip. You can fit up to 4 larger sizes on a shelf. They take up less space than those gallons of milk or boxed containers of juice.
Already tackled your refrigerator and scored some of these amazing products, here are some other items I love to organize kitchen cabinets and drawers.
