Thank you to Lowe’s Home Improvement for sponsoring my laundry room reveal post. As always all thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.
It all began with the new LG SmartthinQ Turbowash and Dryer. I was upgrading my old appliances to LG when I saw them at the store. I just knew I had to give them a prettier laundry room. Excited for my new LG appliances I also wanted to be excited to be in my basement laundry room. So that meant a remodel. In even better news, I was able to complete the entire space UNDER budget and in less than four days. I know!!! So here is everything I used in the new laundry room.
Laundry Room Reveal
Well, you can’t have a laundry room reveal without the before pictures. It was just a simple concrete room in the farthest, darkest corner of our basement. With metal shelving and builders grade sink and accessories. I once believed that I would not be able to have a pretty space because of some water issues. In my last post, 5 Ways to Update your Laundry Room, I shared how I fixed that issue and install floor tiles. Turning it into my dream laundry room.
The Appliances
I am in love with my LG SmartthinQ Washer and Dryer. Truly life-changing. I get more laundry done in less time because of the tub capacities, sensors and the use of wi-fi. The LG SmartthinQ dryer has 9 dryer programs but also a sensor to adjust drying time. Plus, I load the clothes in one way, with the door pulled down so it doesn’t get in my way, and unload using the other dual opening door.

But, it is the LG SmartthinQ washer that has just blown me away. The Turbowash 3D technology allows you to see your clothes get clean. I love this feature because I can have the confidence knowing that the right amount of water is being used. As other machines do, it does lock. However, if I head upstairs and find another pair of dirty socks under my son’s bed, I can delay the wash from my iPhone. When I head back down it will be unlocked for me to add to the wash. A MAZE ING
And it gets better. There is no agitator that takes up space, as a result, I can fit more clothes, even a comforter. Truly life-changing.
Shelving and Organization
I knew I didn’t want upper cabinets. I always feel like those get filled with stuff and becomes another unorganized space, out of sight out of mind. For that reason, I wanted all open-shelving. I also wanted the look of natural wood but the convenience of low maintenance. Especially in the laundry room, and the humidity in the basement space I didn’t want to worry about maintaining wood.
Using the Allen + Roth wood wall shelving for my space I was able to add a variety of open shelves. I placed two above the sink and a longer version on the other wall. Then, added Wicker Baskets for dryer sheets and I grabbed an outdoor seeded glass lantern for my wool dryer balls. LOVE!

On the larger wall, I installed the 36in Allen + Roth Wood Shelves. Then placed a ClosetMaid 6 Compartment Storage Cube below with 6 Black Fabric Bins. I added some of plants, not just for color but I am loving the health benefits of indoor plants.
I also wanted a change jar but didn’t want the usual hurricane style jars. That was when I repurposed something from the light fixture aisle.

At Lowe’s, in the light fixture aisle, I found clear glass flush mount light covers. I repurposed them as jars, they are perfect to collect all that loose change. I love these so much, I think they are perfect for tablescapes too!
Then, in the tool aisle, I found Tough Box Small Parts Organizers (meant for nails and such). Again, I repurposed them for my sewing items and my framing nail sets.
In the black cubby baskets, I organized all my painting supplies, scissors, tools into unused Valspar 1-Quart Residential Paint Buckets. I love finding new ways to keep things tidy.
Creating My Floor Space
My boys use the laundry room as a mudroom to store and dry their hockey equipment. For that reason, I wanted a drying rack that didn’t take up valuable floor real estate. For that reason, I am using the 6 tier over the door drying rack. It is also collapsible while still hanging on the door when not in use.

The 3 Tier Freestanding Metal Organizer is perfect to house all the detergents so that I don’t take up shelf space and even floor space. This caddy is so thin it fits right between both machines.
Upgrading The Laundry Room Sink
We always had the typical tub/basin in the laundry room and I wanted to change that out. I found the White Cabinet/Basin Sink with Faucet and loved the deep sink and under cabinet storage for my cleaning supplies. But, it came with a chrome faucet/sprayer and handles and well, it just didn’t jive with my overall design. 🙂
But, I was able to grab the Moen Weatherly Faucet and Sprayer and switch it out easily. I also picked up 2 Allen + Roth Aged Bronze handles to match.

Tiling the Walls and Floor
At first, I believed I would only be able to tile one accent wall to stay in budget. But when I discovered these amazing 6×6 American Olean Ceramic Wall Tiles for ONLY $0.39, yes 39CENTS I went nuts.
Why not install half-height tiles around the entire room. With all the wear and tear this space gets from hockey equipment, I knew my walls would never have to be patched and painted again!
Also, because of the wear and tear in this space, I wanted dark floors. A porcelain mosaic tile was perfect for easy maintenance and if need, future repair. It is easy to switch out one small tile versus larger ones.
Well, there it is, the full laundry room reveal. I thought I wouldn’t ever love to be in this space. With three kids, sports, and everything else, why not create a laundry room that is not only functional but beautiful.

Love it, that tile is awesome. I like seeing basements getting make overs, they can be so beautiful but get a bad rap.
