Black and White Pumpkin
Since I was little I was not the biggest Halloween fan, I think it is the scaredy-cat in me. Then I had my first kid and he was scared of anything related to ghost and goblins. That was when I started to decorate for Halloween on the cute and whimsical side, not too scary. So I was excited to add a black and white pumpkin to my Halloween mantel. And not just any black and white pumpkin but my first Mackenzie-Child’s piece.
I discovered Mackenzie-Child’s years ago in a local boutique. I loved their kitchen accessory pieces and tea kettle. It was then that I asked the store owner about the iconic design and its story.
Mackenzie-Childs pieces are all hand-painted ceramics and furniture based on a gorgeous farm in New York. Their colorful handmade pieces are any homes keepsake and add joy and memories to any home. I truly hope to one day visit their farm and discover more of their story. But, in the meantime, I am so excited to own my first every Mackenzie-Child’s piece.
I have the medium size beaded black and white pumpkin and it is the perfect touch of whimsical for my Halloween mantel. I love the hand-painted Courtly Stripes “topped with a sprinkling of shimmering beads and sequins. Adding a touch of glitz is a twisted gold-leafed stem.” The design makes it perfect for Halloween, but I can easily carry this into my Thanksgiving tablescape too.
Well, I am excited to finally have a Mackenzie-Child piece and one I can pass on to my daughter. Do you have a Mackenzie-Child’s piece in your home or remember your mom having one in hers?
