Sometimes you just need a weekend away. It was the middle of the holiday hustle and we decided to escape to Wisconsin. It was the first time that we packed our bags and made the short, ONE hour, journey to Lake Geneva. Not sure what to expect, but, I knew a winter weekend getaway in Wisconsin was everything we needed to reconnect. To feel the holiday spirit and stay active during these long winter months. Oh, and I want all of you to escape too! Beyond thrilled to share my promo code HOMEWITHKEKI (10% off) when you book. Need some convincing?? Keep reading.
Winter Weekend Getaway in Wisconsin
Once the kids finished school we headed up north to Grand Geneva Resort & Spa in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. The kids were so excited, even though, they had no idea what surprises I had in store for them. Thanks to all the AMAZING activities and attractions at The Grand Geneva. A constant list of activities any week you go.
Upon checking in I was handed a 5-page catalogue. It had all the experiences, events, activities to enjoy our Christmas in the Country. Going to Grand Geneva Resort & Spa for the holidays was magical for the entire family. Here is a little secret. I know I can tell you because I know you won’t go tell my husband. When it comes to local travel he is a little picky. But, when this weekend ended, his exact words; “IT was a great weekend, lets make sure to book same weekend next year!”
When we arrived, Lucy didn’t miss a second jumping on the bed and running around the suite. You can see it all on my Instagram stories under Grand Geneva. Even how she stopped walking and just skipped everywhere, so cute! The first night we went a 3-D trolley Christmas Light Tour and then had a wonderful Prime Rib & Seafood Buffet in the Grand Cafe to celebrate our wedding anniversary.
Breakfast With Santa
Escaping just one hour north of Chicago was a world of difference. That night we all cozied up by the fireplace in our room and feel asleep. We needed to, since we had a very important breakfast the next morning.
You can see her glow! It was as if Grand Geneva Resort & Spa re-created the North Pole. Every corner felt like Santa’s Village. Truly magical. I was happy that my parents drove up to have our annual Santa Breakfast together. They couldn’t stop talking how wonderful the place and people were. The last time they visited was 30 years ago when for Christmas when I was my daughters age.
I love how Grand Geneva Resort & Spa has created a world for families to come together and create new memories. They have truly outdone themselves. You must take time and escape with your families. I even have that PROMO CODE for you to use when you book your stay. More about that below.
Time To Ski The Mountain Top
Grand Geneva Resort & Spa is actually the TOP Wisconsin Ski Resort! From ski lesson to season passes and more, you can ski the slopes all winter long. With the “magic carpet” to help those little skiers get to the top of their hill (and mommy).
Magic Carpet on two slopes plus, 3 chairlifts, 20 ski runs and 211′ vertical drop. Even those pro skiiers like my boys felt the challenge and were able to hone in on their ski skills. In fact, they didn’t want to leave. I thought they would last 2-3 hours, NOPE, almost 6 hours on the slopes. Little Lucy and I were ready to head back to the resort for a little mommy and me tea time to warm up.
Tea Time at Restorante Brissago
This was Lucy’s first tea time with mommy and it was beyond precious. Overlooking the gorgeous views, we felt oh so fancy. The selection of teas, infused with spices of your choice, were exquisite. Lucy, got a special hot chocolate and star shaped sandwiches perfect for her little hands.
Relaxing At Timber Ridge Lodge & WaterPark
After tea and a full day of skiing we decided we needed at little splash at Timber Ridge Lodge & Waterpark. As many of you know, Little Lucy has some hearing delays, as result, waterparks don’t make it our favorite spot. BUT, with some earplugs in place and mommy by her side, yes, I had to put on a suit. We jumped in the trolley and headed down the hill to Moose Mountain Falls at Timber Ridge Lodge & Water Park. It is safe to say we had a blast.
Lucy was so tired, but, she didn’t want to go back to the room. Heck, we didn’t want our day to end. So, we all got cozy at the Grand Geneva Resort & Spa lobby lounge to listen to a live jazz piano player, keeping the holiday spirit alive with all our favorite tunes. It was perfect, watching little kids dancing, grandparents relaxing with their families, parents enjoying a glass of wine to relax and just sitting back. Simply just being with your family.
