Earlier this month I spent a few days at High Point Market on the Design Bloggers Tour. Visiting multiple showrooms to discover styles and trends that are coming into our designs. High Point is a city, literally, dedicated to the interior design world. It is compared to Fashion Week, but, truthfully, I think it is bigger and better. Now, I know some people don’t like the word “trends,” but, honestly, it is because of these trends we have projects ever year with clients wanting to update their homes, builders looking to designers for their customs homes, and homeowners who simply want to make enhancements to their spaces. So, I am bringing it directly to you from High Point; what I discovered for the interior design trends 2019.
Interior Design Trends 2019
Last year during High Point Market I discovered a few trends that were on point for 2018, remember when I wrote about High Point Market Designs a year ago? I wrote that brass was stronger than ever, and trust me, I saw it everywhere. Also, how geometric designs were in full force and natural woods were making a come back. For that reason, I know what I discovered this year is truly going to be a few of the interior design trends 2019.
KIDNEY OR CURVED SHAPED SOFAS
Yup, they were in almost all the showrooms I visited. I don’t recall seeing this in such high dose last year, for that reason, I know designers are thinking kidney/curved shaped sofas for 2019. At first, a client might be hesitant if introduced to the curved sofa, but it is a genius design for many spaces that Bernhardt, Stickley and Four Hands have added to their new furniture lines. It helps in smaller rooms, actually saving you a few inches. It can float int the middle of a room and they are simply architecturally beautiful.

FROM CANE TO BAMBOO AND RATTAN
Last year, I saw natural woods coming back and this year, it is a lot about cane or bamboo and I am loving it. From seating to lighting we will see the interior design world implement more of these natural products as we produce more sustainable furnishings. Healthier for the environment and our homes. Universal’s Coastal Living line did this beautifully, from console tables to chairs. I also loved how Four Hands added this natural texture to dining chairs, it is a more traditional approach in an updated space. Oh, and lighting! Amazed how Hudson Valley continues to create the most beautiful metal light fixtures but, introduced bamboo into their line.

NESTING TABLES
Before heading to High Point I had just finished a client install with a gorgeous chrome, glass, and marble nesting coffee table. So, believe you me I was very happy to see that nesting tables are back. Remember when storage ottomans were all the rage? I know, functional but not as beautiful. I love the versatility in design, materials, and functionality for nesting tables. From nesting smaller tables underneath, or next to, or, to nesting extra seating under a table. A classic piece that will not go out of style, but always have a place in design.
