In two weeks I will be heading to Charleston, North Carolina. This is a city I have been wanting to visit for a long time. It might help that I am a Bravoholic and love Cameron, Elvis the dog, Craig and, of course Kathryn. When I found out that Haven was going to Charleston, I was in Palm Springs for the Alt Summit and set my alarm, I was not missing out. Besides the possibility of bumping into a few of my Southern Charm favorites, I will be meeting every single one of my home blogger idols! Haven Conference here I come.
Haven Conference 2018
So a couple very important topics to cover. What is Haven? and What will I be wearing? This is important! As I will be flying back and headed straight to a family road trip, like not even stopping at home. So, technically I have to pack smart, and well, cute.
What is Haven?
Haven is a home / D.I.Y influencers conference. I have never been so I don’t want to act like I know what it is all about, just going off of all the great news I hear. Many of the top interior bloggers attend, and you probably know a majority of them. It is like you going to your dream work conference and meeting your mentors / idols. Hoping to be not only be inspired, but eager to come back to work to implement any and everything I will learn.
You might have noticed I am all about conferences. I try to attend 1-2 a year. I believe in them if that makes sense. I believe in the power of collaborations and peer encouragement. I believe in the fact that we all do NOT know everything and need to continue learning. I believe that every year I strive to continue getting better. I can admit I do NOT know everything, I make mistakes daily in my field. I can admit I need help. I want to be better. I want to learn more. TEACH ME!! TEACH ME!!
That is why I continue to go.
What to wear?
Oh my gosh, I don’t even know where to begin. So, I want to feel all Charleston-y. Yes, as you all might know, it ain’t my personal wardrobe style. Preppy / Lily Pulitzer type. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love those prints and adore seeing them on others. Just if I put it on, I feel, well, uncomfortable.
You might have noticed that 2018 has been the year of discovering my style, my voice style, my inner spirit styles, my outwear style. So, the typical Charleston look just ain’t me
At the same time, while I have spent the last year staying true to who I am and what I feel good in, I want to look Charleston ready. Talk about great instagram worthy photos!
So, I divided up my days in
- Travel Outfit
- Conference Outfits
- Night / Dinner Outfits
Might seem counterintuitive but, I have my evening outfits set. I believe in the capsule wardrobe, it revolutionized my life. So I will repeat the two dresses I wore on TV. Cause they are cute and I love them. I feel comfortable in them and they have the same killer shoe that didn’t get shown on either news segments.
Shop The Look
For my travel outfits, I believe in wearing black on the way home. You are more relaxed and tend not to worry about wiping your hands on your pants. And on the way back you you are exhausted and want to be more comfy, so I always where comfy black pants and a shirt plus a light jacket. On the way to conferences I always go straight to workshops so I want to look cute but comfy. I will be in the same flats I will wear home, but this time, jeans and a top that will get me through the day. Usually a button down short sleeve with a light jacket. You know, cold on plane but not on land.
Now for the hardest part, my day to day outfits. The conferences are great but the day is long. You do do a lot of sitting, so shoes don’t have to be that comfy (tip) but I think your pants should be. Right? Ain’t it true, when you are sitting all day you don’t want tight pants or a blouse that makes you feel constricted.
Okay, gotta be honest, I haven’t nailed down my day outfits. So stay tune to next Friday and I will have it. I swear.

Sounds like you will have a great time at Haven, but I wanted to double check that you’re going to the right state. It’s in South Carolina, not North. 😉

LOL! Yes, I went to South, I was in North Carolina for a kids soccer tournament recently and I must have been thinking about it.
