I think second time is a charm. Last Fall, I was excited to do a our basement makeover with the One Room Challenge. Guess what? It died at the end of weekedue to family life and work. I just was not prepared to take it on with all the kids activities and my growing work load. Now, not much has changed. The work load is still growing, and growing, family life hasn’t changed but, this basement needs work. For a cosmetic facelift to some fixture upgrades.
One Room Challenge – Basement Makeover – Week One
Luckily, a lot of the actual plans have not changed. I am sticking with the same paint color scheme but I need furnishings. So, I am going to work on that this week and get all orders placed. Plus, pick up the paint, and this year I am so excited to be working with Sherwin Williams on the project. I had a great time at their booth this past February at Alt Summit and I know partnering with them on my first ORC is going to be great.
Oh, the space. The basement consist of a separate guest room and home office, plus the kids hang out area and a full bath. YUP, going to do it, so lets get started.
Blue Pillow (Similar here and here) / White Desk with Shelving (similar here) / Wrought Iron Day Bed (or close enough here and here) / Banana Leaf Pillow (Also love this one, and this one) / Lighting: Brass Plate Wall Sconce (loving this look too)
The basement can be such a cold and dreary place so I am hopeful that using bold colors and bringing in some extra lighting will make it feel more like an oasis than a basement. Hopefully.
And don’t forget to check out the other amazing participants featured and guest.

Wow I love the green. I don’t think I have personally seen a basement ORC before. Our basement is huge, maybe some we will get to it. Excited for the progress.
