We all do it. We fix the main areas of our home, we update our kids bedrooms more than once as they grow. But our rooms always get left for the last. Well, earlier this year I vowed to complete my master bedroom and create a cozy nook. A corner where I can curl up and read or even just be on my phone while not sitting in my bed. I love how it came together and I even heard someone say, “it’s the best corner in the house now.” I didn’t want to spend too much time or break the bank finishing this corner space, so I headed to Kirkland’s in Vernon Hills (for the first time) and it was the best one stop shop for this corner. And can I just mention, I did it all for $100. NO JOKE!
How to Create A Cozy Nook In Any Room
Okay, to create a cozy nook you need the following.
1 – Throw Blanket
2- Throw Pillow
3 – A side table or flat surface
I found this super soft gray buffalo check throw blanket. It’s still on sale for $19.99 and it is just the best cuddle up blanket. I grabbed two pillows because if I am going to do some laptop work I always like to put a pillow on my lap. I love the Rose shag mangolian fur pillow. It added a pop of blush to my all gray and white space. How fun is the Let’s Stay Home pillow, seriously, Let’s just stay home some days.
As for a side table, I always suggest that you need one in to put down a cup of tea or a snack. I did not have to worry about that for this corner as I have a radiator, lol, that handles that for me. But, make sure you add a small side table to your nook.
Next steps to create a cozy nook:
5 – Add some current books you are reading or inspirational books you like to look back on
6 – Add some small decorative touches to finish of the space. I call this book accessories. You can place them on the books or next to them. It adds texture, depth, and a little pop of color
For my nook, I knew loved the wood beaded garland! I always wanted one and it works great in the space, adding some texture and a truthfully, I feel calmness. Also, I love inspirational quotes and there is a lot going on around us, so when I saw this hope sign, I knew it would be a perfect fit. Oh, and of course the gold lettering perfectly tied in to the golds in my room, win win. I love fresh flowers and I always keep vases out (even if there is nothing in them as I haven’t made it to the floral shop). So you want to find a vase that stands on its own. In other words, look at this picture. There is currently no flowers in the vase, but it stands perfectly on its own because of the ribbed texture, color, and style. This ribbed pink vase is still on sale, $9.99!
Okay, I always feel that empty space in a nook makes it feel incomplete. I needed something to balance the space on the opposite side of the chair. When I saw Kirklands woven belly baskets I grabbed it. Initially I thought it would be perfect to keep extra blankets and pillows. That was the idea and I know I will still use it for that reason. But, when I got home I had a plant that I had picked up the day before, I placed it in the basket and feel in love with the touch of natural elements brought into the space.
So, go ahead, treat yourself and create a cozy nook in any part of your home, a bedroom, a living room, a space that you can just curl up and just stay home.

We will be working on our room eventually, but I have to admit it will probably end up being the last room in the house we end up doing and we probably won’t even get to it until next year because we have a lot of summer plans.

Awesome idea. I think this would be a nice addition to any room. Right now, I do most of my reading in an office I share with my husband. It is not really cozy, but at least it is quiet. I will look for a place in the living room with natural light and rearrange the furniture to make room for a reading nook! Thanks for the inspiration!
