How to Decorate The Top of Armoires
It’s the spot we always forget about or choose to not think about. You know the space, that space above tall furniture. We all have it. Well, it’s time to stop ignoring it and acknowledge its existence. (Okay, maybe I am sounding a little dramatic, but I swear it is a very important and overlooked cranny!) For real, there is legit design reasons why this space is crucial.
Okay, so there are some rules on How to Decorate The Top of Armoires or cabinets. It isn’t always the right thing to do. There are some rules to decorating this space. You know, some don’t and do.
If The Space Is Too Narrow
If the space above the cabinet/furniture has less than 2 feet to the ceiling let it be. Seriously, there just isn’t space, so if you have some faux greenery or something up there now, take it down. No, really, it is doing nothing for the space but collecting dust.
Now, let’s say you have enough height, then by all means let’s move forward with the rules. Adding the right pieces at the right scales will extend the visual height of the piece. In other words, the furniture will appear taller and that works when you have high ceilings. So if you have a pieces that is no taller than 6feet or so and you have tall ceilings, here is your one rule.
Simple / Similar / Like Items
Don’t place many different types of items. They can be collections or items of the same color or size. Keeping it simple in style, or shape, or color. Check out these perfect examples.
