I know, you’re probably wondering, What’s wth this beautiful cover photo on today’s blog post? Insert sarcasm. But I wanted to show you the ugly, behind the scenes, of finding your dream furniture pieces. I waited 10 years to find My Chippendale Bamboo Chairs and it was well worth it. I had shared my amazing auction find recently but I wanted to show you the condition of when I picked them. Nothing a little elbow grease couldn’t handle. I was so excited to get these babies in the car that it wasn’t until I got home and inspected them I could see how much love they had received. And by love I mean dirt. I wasn’t going to let that stop my happiness. I grabbed my go-to cleaner, Mr. Clean Magic Erasure, and got to work. Now, viewer discretion is advised.
Chippendale Bamboo Dining Chairs
I totally understand that maybe you just don’t want to wait FOREVER for a craigslist find and maybe you have the means to purchase a couple of these bamboo Chippendale chairs today. Possibly, you just need one for a desk or side chair in the hallway. Or, maybe you just don’t want to deal with the possible issues that come with estate sales and auctions. So here are a few of my favorite interpretations of the chair.
These are not the cheapest chairs available for purchase but they are of better quality. There are chairs available for half the cost ($300 per chair) but they are most likely “made in China” and not solid wood. You can tell cause they are lighter and look a little faux. The chairs above are by Bungalow 5 and are hand crafted of solid birch. Now that you can see how much they are you understand why I waited to purchase 8 of them from craigslist. No way was I paying $6,048 for my chairs and I was paying a dime for inferior quality.
Would you wait 10 years for your dream piece?
