A few weeks ago my two girlfriends and I grabbed our over night bags and headed into the city for a Mom’s Night in Chicago!
Okay, lets be real, it wasn’t that easy.
We first had to ask the hubby’s if we could go. Then, we had to contact grandparents or sitters if they were available to help out too. Our husbands just can’t take off work since we wanted to head in on a Friday afternoon. Also, we all have multiple children that have to do multiple different activities at different locations at the SAME time. Lastly, of course one of those kids usually has a nap at that time. So, in order for us moms to leave, for literally 18 hours, it took a village. And yea, you guessed it, we moms can do it all on our own, but you know, hubby’s get a little overwhelmed. Oh, and not to forget, grocery shopping was done, fridge was stocked with goodies, and a possible casserole or two prepared before we left.
So now, we grabbed our over night bags and headed into the city for 18 hours of pure relaxation and girl time.
Mom’s Night Out in Chicago
Well, what do you do once you make it into the city?
Here are my top 5.
1. You check into a boutique hotel. We stayed at the Mile North Chicago, best part was it’s location and lobby with a full west coast style coffee bar and a “bar bar” with a cozy lounge.
Coffee Shop & Wine Bar
Email Station (haha) Just kidding, the style is a mix of vintage meets Madmen
Lounge Area
2. Okay, so you are all checked in and now you gotta walk the Magnificent Mile. If you are mom, you know what an amazing feeling it is to walk in and out of stores with NO children. Now, don’t get me wrong, we love our kids, but shopping with them, Oh hell no. We literally walked up and down Michigan Avenue, shopped Water Tower Place, H&M, Banana Republic, Macy’s, and more without ANY stress. IT was perfection.
3. Well, now you gotta eat. So we prettied up a bit and headed to an old Chicago classic, Ruth Chris Steak House. Cause you know, when you aren’t with the boys (husbands), you go for steak and enjoy it like any lady would. The Chicago steak house vibe will never die and you could feel it at Ruth Chris. The steaks are always perfect, the sides were killer and dessert was A MAZE ING.
Loved how Kara had her choice of knives and took it very seriously.
After much discussion and thought she picked one
LOVE HER!!! This gorgeous momma will be a mom of 3 any day now!
4. What do three moms do after a steak dinner in Chicago? Go dancing? Go clubbing? NO, you go back to your large hotel suite, put on matching pajamas and give each other facials and then pass out!
5. After the longest and quietest night sleep the three of us had had in awhile. We grabbed our walking shoes and headed 2 blocks down to Stan’s Donuts for breakfast! YUMMO
Easy peasy 18 hour getawaway for Chicago moms.

Love this! So true on getting ready to leave the family for a short while, pretty darn exhausting. But it looks like you ladies had a great time. Your photos are fantastic too! Thanks for sharing.
