This year I’m keeping the Christmas decorations in the dining room simple, well at least until the tablescape gets set-up.
The kids are busy with homework still, and gift wrapping, so the table is staying clear of designs for at least one more week. However, do not fret, I styled up the buffet, bar cart, and yes my window treatments. Nothing crazy, just subtle enough to make a difference until Christmas Eve.
From windows to bar carts, you gotta add a little Christmas cheer. Check it out.
Last night I hosted a twitter chat about holiday decorations, and a common question was what else do you decorate besides the tree and mantel. Well, your dining room buffet, for sure. I leave the center of the table empty so it is ready to host the array of Christmas Eve platters.
This year I was an a mission to use what I had. So I mixed in silver candlesticks I have collected through the years, and then arranged a couple ornaments and pine cones at the bottom. I also wanted to stick with the color theme of silver and gold with just the right pop of red.
So another easy spot to decorate in the dining room are your windows. I scored 10 artificial wreaths on a Facebook Virtual Garage Sale for $15. I fluffed them up, then added some ribbons and they were like new. Hanging them from the hardware and higher up, draws the eye to other parts of the room people aren’t always drawn too.
Now your bar cart, or tea cart or coffee cart, whatever you all call yours. My bar cart will get filled with drinks for Christmas Eve, but in the mean time, I added a few silver bells and my kids shrinky-dink Christmas tree project from a few years ago.
hello there Mr. nutcracker. My husband and I collected nutcrackers when we were newlyweds and the add a subtle touch to any space.
You can’t go wrong with Shriny-dinks art project. a little modern art project for the kids.
Easy peasy! I know hosting Christmas Eve is going to be expensive, from food to presents, so I tried to not go crazy in the dining room. But once the tablescape is done, oh la la.

Shopping being an essential one for everyone can be fun and easy for some, while some would consider it a chore and irritating.
