Holiday Tablescapes
Last week I jumped at the chance to preview the Grand Opening of the new Chicago area Pier 1 Imports store. A great local organization for moms, Bump Club and Beyond, was hosting this private event. Needless to say, I was so excited it was in my old stomping grounds of Lincoln Park, cause you know what that means, a quick Sweet Mandy B’s stop.
With cupcake in hand I headed over to get inspired for the holidays. Talk about getting your tablescape fix. Whether you want a new transitional styled holiday table by mixing metals and pops of natural green, or a more classic red and green holiday table, Pier 1 has it all.
People often asked how to get that perfect tablescape, well, it’s all about layering. You build and build on top of layers mixing materials and adding height and width. Work your way up and out, no one says it has to fit perfectly in the center. Also, don’t worry about symmetry, worry about adding textures instead.
Okay, so mixing in materials and adding some height. This is usually what I do a few weeks prior to the holiday dinner. My dining table has a minimal layered table scape a few weeks (like the photo above) before Thanksgiving or Christmas. Then a few days leading up to the actual dinner is when I expand and add all the remaining pieces.

Again, adding height, by placing down chargers, dinner plates and a decorative salad plate. Adding pops of color to the cloth napkins and carrying the look around the table for consistency.
Okay, so lets say you want a different type of glammy table with pops of gold and red. Not an issue here. Check out the complete opposite look for a holiday tablescape.
Pretty! I know!
But, maybe you want a more traditional cabin feel to your table. Not a problem, use less metals and more wood finishes.
Perfect too! I know!!
Okay, so you don’t want any of those styles and want a more “get up and dance,” pop of bright colors, Christmas is fun and cute type table. No problem…
I know, adorable!! I love this last table for a kids table!! So cute.
Anyhoo, 4 complete different Holiday tablescapes at Pier 1, literally a one stop shop. BUT, I am sure we all have enough of something at home to begin the tablescape process and remember, don’t wait till the day before to set your table. Go ahead and set the center earlier to dress up your dining room until it’s time to chow down.
