This weeks Feature Friday client is a great Nantucket Style Family Room and Kitchen
I was initially hired for a paint color consult, then as time passed, it included the floor plans and furnishings for the family room and kitchen. First room was the dining space that we wanted to remove the wallpaper and neutralize the space. After removing the wallpaper we debated between Light Pewter and Gray Owl. I didn’t want to to go to dark since we were going to leave the foyer and staircase decorators white. For that reason, we ended up going with Light Pewter by Benjamin Moore.
Next room to paint was definitely the family room. Nothing against painted sunny yellow stripes but it just wasn’t what the style of the home called for.

After my amazing painter spend a couple days plastering and sanding out all the stripes we got to throw some new colors on the wall. I really pushed for a cool breezy grayish blue but the homeowner was thinking something with a green undertone. Truthfully, I think he fell for the title of the name, Nantucket Breeze, more so than the color 🙂
Just cause it says Nantucket, doesn’t necessarily mean it will go with the lighting and flow of your home, but, client won so we went with Nantucket Breeze by Benjamin Moore. (You can’t win them all)
Nantucket Style Family Room and Kitchen
Not to fear, with new white slipcover furnishings and rug we can downplay Nantucket breeze to feel, well, more breezy.
Next space was the kitchen. Another room with wall to wall wallpaper!! We had all the wallpaper removed and I am happy to say, I won this color choice, we went with Gray Owl by Benjamin Moore and it is just perfect! We took the Gray Owl throughout the kitchen and into the side entrance hallway that leads into the laundry room and powder room. As we head upstairs we painted all four bedrooms. We took the pink room and yellow rooms and neutralized them with dark tan paint colors. Colors that their young boys could grow into.
We picked Manchester Tan for the first boys room and later opted for a more blue Slate for the other boys room.
