So, I have a really small, tiny, itsy bitsy foyer. I think it is officially called an entryway instead of foyer, but I still love it, and believe it is one of the most important spaces in a home. This is the space that almost everyone will see. They might not visit your master bedroom or the basement bathroom, but they will all see this room. From guests to the nicor man, this room gets a lot of show time.
Styling Foyer/Entryway
Even if they are only this area for a few moments to say, then it is only in those few moments they have to get an idea of what your home is like. I want my guests, or passerby’s to feel welcomed, comfortable, and at the same time, get a glimpse into who we are.
I love that our home is a deep reflection of our lives. I spend so much time “de-personalizing” spaces that when it comes to my own home, I believe it should tell a story. My dear Great Aunt Ruth taught me this in not so many words. Her walls told a story, whether it be the family pictures on the wall or an art piece of a place she had been to. I have mentioned on other posts how certain aspects of my home pay homage to her, but, maybe a large portion of how I decorate has been because of her.
Without having to say anything, our home tells a story, from family photos, to maps, concert posters, cityscape renderings or framed menus from anniversary dinners.
With this, I mix in some of my vintage finds that I know have a story of their own, and every so often you see a hint of decor that reflects some of the current trends without appearing too catalogue-y.
And so there you have it. My overall home style and it starts with my GRAND foyer.
