When we bought our home I noticed there was a streak in our oven glass window. I thought, “no problem, I will clean it.” When we moved in, I realized it was in between the glasses and I couldn’t reach it. Well, through the years a few more spills were added to the collection. ANNOYING!
Every year, we host Christmas Eve dinner and, part of my prep is I clean my oven inside and out. I think you are suppose to it 3 times a year, but if you are an O.C.D neat freak like me, always wiping up spills, a thorough deep cleaning is really only needed before the New Year. I also do it at this time because I feel when you have guest over for a sit down dinner, no one wants to see that the food came out of a disgusting, dirty oven. You lose your appetite. Which is why I always clean my kitchen before dinners or events in my home.
Well, this year, I was going to tackle that glass window. I called the manufacturer and they said they could send someone out for a fee, to disassemble the door, clean it, and reassemble. GREAT!! “how much?” I ask. Turns out, I could buy a new stove to have someone come out and clean my oven glass.
I took a deep breath and realized, “ok, if a guy can come out here and disassemble it and put it back together, then I can do it too.”
After staring at the nuts and bolts of the door for the good portion of an hour, I grabbed the screwdriver and started loosening screws while doing the sign of the cross a couple times. Obvisously, these screws are attached to the door only. What is the worse that could happen?
After loosening 4 screws, the door separated into 2!!! I have access!!
I quickly began cleaning as if a bomb would go off if I didn’t clean in a matter of time. Note to readers, nothing happened, so take your time cleaning and getting every nook and cranny while you have access. Then, you simply snap the two doors back together and begin placing the screws back in. All completed in less than 20minutes!

Thank you for the reminder – I did this a few years ago but could not remember exactly how I did it. This method is much more effective than the one I've seen around where you lay on the floor and stick a hanger with a wipe inside the window! Thanks again!
