YUUUP! That’s right. You read the title correctly. I finally scored a Bamboo Chippendale Chair. Now, if you know me, the only time I step into a store to purchase furniture is for clients. The last time I ever purchased a piece of furniture in a retail store was back in 2005, my sons crib. Otherwise, I soar the planet looking for those pieces for our humbled a’bowed. Piece by piece putting each room together. I can happily say, the kitchen with powder room is officially complete, as of last night 🙂
And with this Bamboo Chippendale chair, my living room is moments away from completion. Moments.
Bamboo Chippendale Chair
After the living room, I am attacking our family room/T.V. room. Then basement man cave, then boys bedroom, Master bedroom, and the finale….upstairs bathroom. You know that by the time I complete this, we will probably be ready to move and start all over again. Ha!!
Okay, so there were a couple pieces I needed to finish off my living space. I needed a coffee table, and a bamboo desk chair. Yes, only a bamboo desk chair. I have been wanting one forEVA!!! Now, if you google Bamboo Chippendale chairs, they retail for $200 used and vintage (meaning they need a lot of TLC) to $1,895!! Yup, someone out there will pay that.
Well, a few Saturday’s ago I saw a post on Facebook about a local neighborhood Yard Sale. Thank you Anne West!!
I grabbed my coffee and headed out the door. On a mission to find unique pieces. Of course, my boys grabbed their wallets and we spent a lot of time buying 0.25cent lemonade and cookies.
Then it happened!!!
I walked over to the next yard sale and hiding in the back of the driveway (as if the owner wasn’t sure if she wanted to sell it) was my baby.
I noticed the owner notice me push my way through the crowd and tables of knick knacks heading straight to the chair. She followed me.
“Do you like?” she asked.
“Imagine it already in the trunk of my car….I love it. How much?”
“Yum, how about $15?”
“one five or five zero?” I asked, confused as if I thought I heard her say 15!!!
“oh no, $15. I have had it in storage forever and, well, what would you do to it? are you handy, would you paint?”
I notice her questions were really questioning herself and her decision to sell it. I could see her mind working, thinking, wait, maybe I can fix it up. Apparently, this girl really wants it….
I quickly pick it up and say, “let me throw it in the car and get your money.”
When I return, with her $15 dollars, she asks me again about my intentions.
I told her, “check out my blog, you will see it in all it’s glory soon…I love it, thank you!!”
Well, here is the actual chair and then my inspirations below.
